Overview
The GitHub Student Developer Pack is aimed at enrolled students. After verifying student status you gain access to free credits and tool licenses from partner vendors, including trial credits from several AI/LLM API providers.
Steps
- Create a GitHub account and go to the Education page to apply.
- Verify with a school email, or upload a student ID or enrollment proof.
- Once approved, open the Pack page and look at the AI-related offers.
- Claim each offer and follow the vendor's instructions to link your account or generate an API key.
- Store keys in environment variables instead of hardcoding them.
Caveats
- Enrolled students only; verification usually takes a few days.
- Credit amounts, validity and renewal rules differ per vendor; most are one-time trials.
- Some offers require a credit card or identity check, so watch for auto-renewal.
